May 8th 2026 ( 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM )
Friends of the Reedy River is holding our next Volunteer Work Day at Reedy River Meadow on Friday, May 8 from 9 - 11:30 AM! Originally scheduled for Hands On Greenville (HOG) Day on 5/2, and rescheduled due to weather, we now need more volunteers to assist with this next work day.
Please join us to remove invasive plant species to make room for native plants! Our goal is to create a native plant meadow along the Reedy River. We will teach volunteers about the importance of meadows, native plants, riparian buffer zones, and proper identification and removal of invasive plant species - specifically hand-pulling invasive plant species and small saplings.
We will focus on removing invasive species by hand. We'll help you correctly identify desirable versus undesirable vegetation, making this a great opportunity for all experience levels! Then, we will cover and mulch the pulled areas.
Please come prepared to get dirty -- long pants & closed toe shoes are strongly recommended. Please bring a water bottle, sun protection or rain gear, cold weather gear if needed, gardening gloves if you have them, and any other supplies you will need to feel comfortable in a group outdoors, such as a chair or a kneeling pad. All other supplies and tools will be provided.
Thank you for your interest in supporting Friends of the Reedy River! We look forward to seeing you soon!
